History of Sunderland AFC

From Tom Watson to the Team of All the Talents, Sunderland AFC has a rich history within the game from its inception to the present day.

Just five clubs have won more top-flight titles than the Black Cats who have ruled English football on six occasions, and in 1937 the club lifted the FA Cup for the first time with Bob Stokoe and the Lads repeating the feat in 1973 against all odds.

Records have been consistently shattered and recorded since 1879, and you can explore every inch of the club’s esteemed history from managers and stadiums to the players who made the Roker Roar.
